Apply for an Indian Passport from Any City in India
If you're living away from your hometown and need to apply for an Indian passport, the process has now become much simpler. Thanks to a new scheme introduced by the External Affairs Minister, Sushma Swaraj, you can now apply for a passport from anywhere in the country, without needing to travel back to your hometown.
Apply for a Passport from Any City
Previously, if you were originally from Chennai but living in Bangalore, you had to return to Chennai to apply for your passport. With this new initiative, you can now apply at any Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) or Passport Office Passport Seva Kendra (POPSK) in your current city, under the jurisdiction of the respective Regional Passport Office (RPO). All you need to do is provide your current address, which does not necessarily have to be your permanent address.
Police Verification Process
Once you submit your application, the police verification will be conducted at the address you provided in the application. It’s essential to ensure that the address is accurate, as this will be the location for your verification process.
mPassport Seva App – Apply Easily from Your Phone
In addition to this initiative, the government has launched the mPassport Seva App, which allows you to apply for a passport, make payments, and schedule appointments—all from your smartphone. This user-friendly app has already been downloaded by over a million users within just two days of its launch.
